Welcome to AI Swedish Section´s
Annual General Meeting in Visby!


The Swedish Section's AGM for the year 2001 will take place in the medieval city of Visby on the Baltic Island of Gotland between May 4th - 6th 2001. The AGM will commence with two seminars; "Decision-making and Accountability within Amnesty International" and "The Mandate and its History". Following dinner on Friday evening at the AGM-site Borgen, two more seminars will highlight the issues of "Democracy within the Swedish Section of AI" as well as the "Review of the Mandate".

We are very pleased to welcome Ms Irene Khan, the new Secretary General of Amnesty International as of August 2001, as our guest at the AGM.

Sonja Papak from Belgrade will tell us more about the organization OTPOR!, a non- violent Serbian Students' Movement and their fight for freedom and democracy in the Federal Republik of Yugoslavia.

Other AI sections represented at this year's AGM will be Liisa Linna from Estonia and Anna-Kaarina Taarasti from Finland.
